Oundle’s businesses are mostly independents. Shops, pubs, cafes, galleries, offices and schools, many of them trading from listed buildings on narrow streets. That shapes what good waste collection looks like here. Bins sized for the space you actually have, collections that do not block the street at the wrong time, and a contractor who turns up when they said they would. That is the service BSH Recycling runs.
We collect commercial waste across Oundle and the Nene Valley from our Peterborough depot, just down the A605. We are a family owned firm, trading since 2002, with over 50 staff, our own fleet and our own waste transfer stations. This year we added a new commercial waste lorry to grow our rounds across Cambridgeshire and the surrounding area, which brought Oundle and its villages firmly onto the schedule.
We collect general waste, food waste, cardboard and glass. Four bin sizes
For town centre premises the right answer is often smaller bins emptied more often, rather than a big container with nowhere to live. We will look at your space and say so. There is no rental charge on any bin, you pay for collections only, and the frequency can flex if your trade is seasonal.
One habit that cuts most bills straight away is separating cardboard. Retail and hospitality produce a lot of it, and under our cardboard only policy, running since February 2026, it goes in a dedicated bin, gets hand sorted at our depot and is 100% recycled. Segregated cardboard costs less to process than general waste, so the saving lands with you.
Even the smallest trade premises has two duties. Use a licensed waste carrier, and keep duty of care paperwork showing where your waste went. Trade waste in domestic bins or run to the household tip is a breach, and councils enforce it. We provide your duty of care certificate free as part of the service.
Recycling rules also tightened in March 2025. Workplaces in England now need to separate food waste, paper and card, and dry recyclables from general waste. Independents are the businesses most likely to have missed this, simply because no one told them. If that might be you, ring 01778 394044, Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm. We will check your setup over the phone for nothing.
Our refuse vehicle has an onboard weighing system, so every collection is weighed at your premises. You get real figures for what your business throws away.
The practical use for a small business is simple. The numbers prove whether your bins are the right size. We have moved customers down a bin size because the data showed them half empty, and that took money off their bill. Larger organisations, schools among them, use the same data for environmental reporting. Either way it is included, not an extra.
Everything we collect in Oundle returns to our registered waste transfer stations in Peterborough and Bourne. Waste is hand sorted, recyclables recovered, and across the business up to 99.9% is diverted from landfill, with residual waste used for RDF and SRF fuel instead of landfill. We are ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 certified and FORS accredited.
We own the whole chain. Bins, lorries, crews, sorting lines. No brokering, no subcontractors you have never met. If a customer or auditor asks where your waste went, you will have a documented answer.
Our 4 step process keeps it simple. We establish your requirements, you complete the account form and contract, we confirm the collection schedule, and service starts as agreed. Contracts run 12 months with 3 months notice from the end of the term, set out plainly before you sign anything.
If your premises needs more than bins, we cover that too. Commercial skips from 2 to 40 cubic yards for refits and clear outs, grab hire for rubble and soil, and aggregates delivered. A shop refit with a skip and ongoing bins on one account is a setup we run all the time.
We collect across Oundle and the surrounding villages, including Barnwell, Ashton, Cotterstock, Glapthorn, Warmington, Nassington and Elton, plus Thrapston and Peterborough. The full list is on our areas covered page.
For a quote, call 01778 394044 or use our contact page. Tell us your business type, your rough weekly waste and where bins would sit. We will recommend a sensible setup and price it, usually the same day.
