    About Us

    2022 – 20 Years of BSH Recycling

From humble beginnings, today BSH Recycling stands as one of the waste management industry leaders throughout the East Midlands.
Our established, friendly and knowledgeable team ensure the delivery of waste management solutions to both domestic and commercial sectors.
Formed in 2002 by Chris Seggie (Managing Director) and his father Norman, BSH Recycling have grown from a single vehicle operation to the complete solution we are today with Grabs, Tippers, ROROs and Refuse vehicles.

After 13 years of operation from its sole site in Bourne, Lincolnshire; BSH Recycling opened its sister depot within Peterborough in mid 2015. Both sites are registered waste transfer stations, enabling BSH Recycling to process waste material, recycling where possible to deliver industry leading landfill diversion rates.

A Word from our Managing Director

I have been in the waste and recycling business since I was 24 years old. During those years, I have seen many cycles of ups and downs but none quite so ferocious as the COVID 19 outbreak.

In 2002 when my father and I started the business, I could never have envisaged that it would have grown to the size it is today… which has only been possible through the support and dedication of the fantastic staff we employ; each and everyone one of them playing a vital role. We now employ over 50 people across our two sites in Bourne, Lincolnshire and Peterborough, Cambridgeshire.

We have achieved our growth through offering great customer service and continual investment in our operating centres infrastructure, plant and machinery. We made the decision in 2015 to open our second depot in Peterborough to cope with the high demand of work in and around the area.

Previously, we collected waste from Peterborough, sorting it in Bourne and then disposing of it at the Landfill site in Peterborough. Opening the depot saved time, resource and allowed us to grow the business further within the area. Of course, times have changed and we no longer use the Landfill at Peterborough with all of our residual waste being used for RDF or SRF.

2022 brings new challenges to the business, however, I am pleased with the progress we have made so far. In January, we saw the completion of our Trommel Building extension and we are now in the process of completing our new Waste Storage Building at our Bourne Depot. This will enable us to load articulated walking floor trailers within the building, thus keeping the material dry and improving our operational environmental impact.

As the Company has expanded, we have become more aware of our quality, environmental and health and safety responsibilities. I can now tell you that at as of the 28th March 2022, we received confirmation of certification to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001: 2015 & ISO 45001: 2018 standards which was an outstanding achievement for the organisation. We are now in the process of gaining an accreditation for the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) – a voluntary accreditation scheme for fleet operators who are audited against a level of quality within the fleet operations, and to demonstrate which operators are achieving exemplary levels of best practice in safety, efficiency, and environmental protection.

We are continually upgrading our fleet of HGV vehicles and 2021 was no exception with the introduction of a new Mercedes Econic Refuse Collection Vehicle, fitted with the latest on-board weighing equipment. We have a further 8 new arrivals expected for 2022 to replace three of our current 18 tonne vehicles with brand new 15 tonne DAF Skip Loaders. These vehicles are more user friendly for the operator and importantly are around 50% more fuel efficient, helping us to reduce our carbon footprint.

Our team at BSH are amazing, friendly, down to earth and really have your best interests at heart with everything they do!

“Our work fills a large part of our life and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what we believe is great work… and the only way to do great work is to love what you do… it always seems impossible until it’s done.”
