Can the skip go on the road?

Yes… but only with express permission given by the local Highways Authority. Skip Permits are arranged by BSH Recycling, take 5 full working days to process and are at an additional cost to the hire of a skip. It is an offence to place a skip on the public highway without permission.

How and when do I pay for the skip?

Services must be paid for at the point of hire, either by debit/credit card over the telephone. BSH Recycling DO NOT accept cash upon arrival.

How full can I load the skip?

The contents of the skip should not exceed the sides and should form a level load. This is in order to ensure the safe transportation of the load from site to depot. BSH Recycling drivers are trained professionals… upon arrival, drivers will identify the most suitable location to drop the skip. Drivers will only drop skips in locations which are safe and have the required access.

How wide does the access need to be?

You will need 11ft to allow our vehicles access. It will also need to be free from low hanging branches, power lines and manhole covers to prevent obstruction.

Can I move the skip to suit me?

No! Once the skip has been placed, it cannot be moved unless by a BSH Recycling Driver. Skips are sited in locations suitable for delivery and collection where damage will not be caused. If you move the skip, you may inadvertently move the skip into a position that prevents or hinders collection.
