    Grab Hire Sleaford

BSH Recycling Grab Hire Service in Sleaford

When you have tonnes of soil or rubble to move in Sleaford, loading a skip by hand is the slow way to do it. Grab hire in Sleaford gets the same job done in minutes. Our grab lorries carry up to 16 tonnes of inert waste per load, and the operator loads it with a hydraulic arm in around 15 to 20 minutes. You do not lift a thing.

BSH Recycling is a family owned waste management firm based in Bourne, Lincolnshire. We have been at this for over 20 years, starting with a single vehicle in 2002, and we now cover Sleaford and the villages around it with grabs, skips, tippers and commercial waste collections. A fair share of our grab work out this way comes from farms, rural properties and the steady run of extensions and barn projects that south Lincolnshire produces.

    What grab hire is for

A grab lorry is a 32 tonne, 8-wheeled truck with a 6 metre hydraulic arm. The arm picks material straight off your site and drops it in the body of the lorry. It will reach over a wall or hedge of about 10ft where the lorry can pull alongside, which suits the long frontages and verges you get around Sleaford villages.

Grab hire takes inert material only:

    • Earth, soil and turf
    • Brick, block and concrete
    • Hardcore and rubble
    • Muck and clay
    • Sand and aggregates

General waste, timber and plastics still need a skip. If your project produces both types, keep them in separate piles. Mixing muck into general waste is the most common way people pay too much for disposal, because the whole load then gets charged at the mixed rate.

Grab hire Sleaford or a skip, which is cheaper

It comes down to weight and volume. Inert waste is heavy. A standard 8 yard inert skip carries up to 8 tonnes and you load it yourself. One grab load carries 16 tonnes and we load it.

So the rule of thumb we give Sleaford customers is this. Under about 6 tonnes of muck, hire a skip. Over that, the grab starts winning on price per tonne, and once you are above two skip loads it is not close. A typical footing dig for an extension, or a dug out farm track, will fill a grab load comfortably.

There is a second saving people miss. A skip on the road needs a council permit. A grab lorry loads and leaves in one visit, so there is usually no permit to buy and nothing blocking the lane for a fortnight.

If you are unsure, call 01778 394044, option 2, and describe the job. We price this work every day and we will tell you honestly which option costs less, even when the answer is a skip.

    The Details Worth Checking

Access. The lorry needs 11ft of clear width, with no low branches or power lines overhead. On farm tracks and rural lanes this is rarely a problem. In Sleaford town centre it is worth a quick measure.

Loading. With clear access, loading takes 15 to 20 minutes. Awkward access or wet clay can stretch that a bit.

Payment. Card or BACS at the point of hire. We do not accept cash on arrival.

Our grab operators are trained, certified and experienced. They will assess the lift when they arrive and they will not take risks with overhead lines or soft ground, which on fenland edges and farmland is the right call.

Where Your Muck Actually Ends Up

Everything we grab in Sleaford goes back to our registered waste transfer station in Bourne. Soil and rubble get processed and crushed, and much of it returns to use as recycled 6F5 hardcore and aggregates. Up to 99.9% of what we handle is diverted from landfill. We hold ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 certification and FORS accreditation, and we can provide the waste documentation that proves your spoil was disposed of properly. With fly tipping enforcement getting stricter across Lincolnshire, that paper trail protects you
